For families
We explain things in everyday language, reduce overwhelm and help families find calm, clarity and community.
Autism EC exists to bring people together with warmth, respect and practical help. We want families to feel less alone, individuals on the spectrum to feel seen, and communities across the Eastern Cape to grow in understanding.
You are not behind. You are not alone. And you do not need to figure everything out by yourself.
Simple, human explanations about autism and lived experience.
Support groups, stories, partnerships and local community links.
Helpful next steps for parents, schools, caregivers and adults.
A stronger collective voice for dignity, inclusion and access.
This short video introduces the heart behind Autism EC and the kind of community we want to build across the Eastern Cape.
We are building a caring, practical and hopeful space for autistic people, families, caregivers, educators and allies in the Eastern Cape. This site is not about having all the answers. It is about creating connection, sharing trusted guidance and moving forward together.
We explain things in everyday language, reduce overwhelm and help families find calm, clarity and community.
We believe autistic people deserve dignity, respect, belonging and opportunities to thrive in their own way.
We help schools, workplaces, service providers and neighbours understand autism with empathy and confidence.
Autism is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. Every autistic person is unique. Some may need a great deal of support, while others may need less. Strengths, challenges, communication styles, sensory experiences and support needs can look very different from one person to another.
We focus on the most meaningful support first. This includes clear guidance for families, access to local resources, and building a welcoming community where people feel understood and supported from the moment they arrive.
A gentle first step for families who are new to autism or feeling overwhelmed.
A place to list local therapists, schools, support groups and services over time.
Real community voices that make people feel seen, less isolated and more hopeful.
Talks, school sessions, awareness drives and ways to show up for the cause.
“Our goal is simple: to build a kinder, better informed and more connected Eastern Cape for autistic people and their families.”
Our roadmap is built on practical steps that create real impact. Each phase focuses on strengthening support, growing awareness, and building a connected community across the Eastern Cape.
Launch the website, define the message, create social media consistency, collect core resources, and invite families, professionals and volunteers into the community.
Share practical articles, host simple awareness sessions, strengthen local partnerships, and begin building a visible support directory for the Eastern Cape.
Create regular family touchpoints, tell more local stories, grow volunteer participation, and begin province-wide awareness campaigns with schools and workplaces.
Review what helped most, publish a simple annual impact summary, improve the website based on feedback, and set the next year’s priorities with the community in mind.
There are many meaningful ways to be part of Autism EC. Whether you are a parent, professional, volunteer or supporter, your involvement helps strengthen our community and expand the support available to families.
Schools, businesses, therapists, faith communities and local organisations can help us reach more families.
From admin support to awareness events, many small acts of service can make a real difference.
Donations, sponsorships, venue support, printing, transport and practical help all matter.
Use this form to connect with Autism EC. Whether you are looking for support, want to get involved, or would like to partner with us, we would love to hear from you.
